So I had a few people let me know my blog wasn't working quite right. I had tried to get fancy and add some html codes. I ignored the warning that they weren't done correctly and all my old posts and info slid right off the page. I learned my lesson and took the code out. Things seem to be back to normal and working fine...I think. Let me if it still seems wonky to you. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteMy name is Emilio, I am a Spanish boy and I live in a town near to Madrid. I am a very interested person in knowing things so different as the culture, the way of life of the inhabitants of our planet, the fauna, the flora, and the landscapes of all the countries of the world etc. in summary, I am a person that enjoys traveling, learning and respecting people's diversity from all over the world.
I would love to travel and meet in person all the aspects above mentioned, but unfortunately as this is very expensive and my purchasing power is quite small, so I devised a way to travel with the imagination in every corner of our planet. A few years ago I started a collection of used stamps because trough them, you can see pictures about fauna, flora, monuments, landscapes etc. from all the countries. As every day is more and more difficult to get stamps, some years ago I started a new collection in order to get traditional letters addressed to me in which my goal was to get at least 1 letter from each country in the world. This modest goal is feasible to reach in the most part of countries, but unfortunately it’s impossible to achieve in other various territories for several reasons, either because they are countries at war, either because they are countries with extreme poverty or because for whatever reason the postal system is not functioning properly.
For all this I would ask you one small favor:
Would you be so kind as to send me a letter by traditional mail from Cuba? I understand perfectly that you think that your blog is not the appropriate place to ask this, and even, is very probably that you ignore my letter, but I would call your attention to the difficulty involved in getting a letter from that country, and also I don’t know anyone neither where to write in Cuba in order to increase my collection. a letter for me is like a little souvenir, like if I have had visited that territory with my imagination and at same time, the arrival of the letters from a country is a sign of peace and normality and an original way to promote a country in the world. ReplyDeleteLove your post. Just came upon it yesterday and I'm hooked. Can't wait to read more. I've been to Cuba 9 times now and I too fell in love with the country, the culture and an unavailable Cuban man. Met him on a resort, he was a lifeguard on the beach. (he was not a young man, 45 and I was 50). We became friends and kept in touch. I visited him a few times after that initial meeting and we both developed feelings for each other, but my values would not permit me to continue with this relationship. He was married (not officially but had been living with her for over 20 years and had a daughter with her). So, the heartbreak began and I had to pull away from the relationship as I knew it would never lead to anything. So it's been two years since we've seen each other but we still keep in touch once in awhile. I'm so happy that your cuban relationship worked out and I wish you both the best. No es facile la vida.
Keep up the writing as I thoroughly enjoy reading about your love story.

Thanks for reading. That is a pretty sad story but I think better to go with the heartbreak of doing things right, than the heartbreak of continuing with a relationship you know is wrong. I read a quote the other day that kind of fits 'Maybe it's not about the happy ending. Maybe it's about the story.' I feel like so often we focus too much on the ending when it's all the other parts that actually help us learn and grow. Seems like your experience gave you a lot and that's the important part.
